Watch out She has a gun My Dear Friends: Unless you had been there, how could you possibly understand? We were in our seventh week of meetings, our seventh week of watching the glory cloud come down. I feel like the person who wrote about the glory cloud filling Solomon's temple. How can you describe God? We were at Sumner Assembly of God. Andy Rosas is the pastor there. He is a great man of God. We had seen so many things. In one morning meeting, almost everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit. This included almost a whole youth group of about 20 kids. So many have been saved, so many healed, so many touched by God. Many nights of the last two weeks were spent baptizing in water those who came back to the Lord. We had almost 20 - 30 candidates each night. When they gave their testimonies, it was almost like Jesus was there listening. It was here we saw God's hand move. A young girl, about 18, who had come to the meetings many times before, came this night. It was the second to the last night of the seven weeks. You see, like so many of us, she had fallen in sin. She had listened to the lie of the enemy who now gave condemnation and guilt. She was well aware of the voice of the enemy and what he had to say. She had come before. She had cried before. She had fallen at the altar before. Now, it was different. She had fallen into sin again. After all that God had done, how could God ever want her back again? She had just got back from a short- term missions trip. All her friends were with her. Oh, what victories they had. Now, everyone wanted to testify, almost two rows of them. Now everyone wants to tell of the wonderful things the Lord has done. As she came forward with them, she saw their joy. She saw their purity. She saw the love they had for Jesus. Now, Satan whispered in her ear, "You hypocrite, who are you to be up here? Everyone will see right through you. This is not for you. This is for them not you. If they knew your sin, they would not allow you here." Person after person spoke of great victory. Person after person spoke of great joy, and what the Lord had done. By the time I got to her, conviction of the Holy Spirit asked her to do what we all have to do - repent. The devil screamed in one ear, "Run from the building." Jesus said, "Run to the altar." She chose to run from the altar, into the night. The Lord had whispered to me that she had fallen in sin, and could not testify. No one knew. No one heard but me. No one knew but Jesus, the girl and I. There were so many that night wanting to testify, almost 40 or more. There was a great wave of worship now. People were singing and praising the Lord. The flames of worship went high into the heavens that night. Pastor Andy had started to baptize his people in water. The Lord had told me to stand in the back. .As I was watching the glory of the harvest, someone came to me and said, " We have a problem. There is a girl with a 45 automatic pistol, threatening to kill herself in the parking lot of the church." She was standing right
next to the side entrance of the altar area. We did not know
if the gun was loaded or not. We knew if it went off, it could
hurt or kill many people. Very few, inside, knew what was going
on outside. They were with the Lord, praying and praising inside.
I brought two bodyguards with me. They were both over 6 feet
tall. As we came around the corner of the building, you could
see her in the shadows. There were no lights on this side of
the church. The only light shone from the open door to the altar
and windows of the church. There she was, the same girl who had
run from the altar to the darkness. My heart leaped because of
her pain, because of how rejected she felt, because of the condemnation
she saw instead of love. A man was trying to talk with her. It
was her youth pastor. The painting was the same we have seen
so many times. "Don't come any closer or I'll...., leave
me alone...., it won't work for me...". The words of pain
hurt so much. I asked the Lord what to do!! You know the prayer
"Jesus help!!!" My mind was racing with thoughts. "Lord,
is the gun loaded? It's a big gun, Lord, a 45 automatic. Lord,
just one stray bullet could kill her and hurt many other people.
Lord, do I call 911? Do I call the SWAT team? That's what they
are trained for." I didn't call 911. I called "God-11".
I said, Father, what do you want me to do? Do I dare risk the
lives of the men here to help me?" People from the church
were starting to notice now. They were starting to gather outside.
"Jesus, what would You do?" Then it came to me. A holy
hush, a wave of peace I cannot describe. I knew what I had to
do. An overwhelming sense of love hit my heart, as if she was
my own daughter. May the Commanded Blessing of God be upon you and yours. Jerry & Jan Gaffney Jerry Gaffney Ministries |
